SIMA FAB 50: St Paul's takes over No. 1

Louisiana power St. Paul's (La.) takes over the SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 ranking this week, yet San Antonio LEE (Texas) and Alief Elsik (Texas) remain close on its heels, at the No. 2 and 3 spots. If either Texas school finishes undefeated, it might make a strong case for No. 1. But for the time being, St. Paul's has earned its place atop the FAB 50.

While rolling through Louisiana has been no trouble for St. Paul's, the team really bolstered its run at No. 1 by winning the Tampa Jesuit Invitational, which included teams from California, Florida and Texas. St. Paul's defeated SIMA FAB 50-ranked Tampa Jesuit (Fla.), which had beat another Top 25-ranked team in Cathedral (Calif.) one round earlier.

On the girls side this week, Tompkins (Texas) stays No. 1, just ahead of Upland (Calif.).

BIG MOVERS: BOYS: De La Salle (Concod, Calif.). By avenging its only loss, De La Salle moved from No. 19 to No. 13 this week, putting this NorCal power in position to make a run at a SIMA FAB 50 Top 10 finish ... GIRLS: Lake Travis (Texas). The only loss by Lake Travis this season is to SIMA FAB 50 No. 25 Harvard-Westlake (Calif.). So, as long as both teams keep winning, both move up in the rankings. Lake Travis reaches a new high this season, checking in at No. 28.
